The Amaraggi Collection
Sotirios Salvator Amaraggi was born in Thessaloniki, Greece in 1938.
He is the eldest of three children parented by Asser Amaraggi and Renée Matalon.
His parents immigrated to Belgiumin 1947, and he took the Belgian nationality in 1962.
He studied in Brussels at the Collège St Pierre, graduating in Economics and Finance from Brussels University (Université Libre de Bruxelles).
Sotirios Amaraggi spends his professional career in international trading mainly in steel products, with extensive traveling in Asia, the Middle East, Europe, South America and Africa.
Sotirios Amaraggi met Ricky through a common friend, Amit Flohr, in 2007. He was very much attracted by her powerful works and the emotions they convey.
Aude and Sotirios Amaraggi entrusted Ricky with the majority of the art work in their Tel Aviv flat; every day they observe what she has produced as a new discovery.
Aude and Sotirios have purchased an unusually large number of Ricky's works with the aim of bringing them to as many people as possible. “We want to share the enjoyment we get from these works. It’s such a joy to experience the emotions these works radiate.”
For her part, Ricky is thrilled with such an expression of faith in her work. “It’s wonderful that anyone should show such faith but even more so that Aude and Sotirios should be so supportive, because they are such warm and wonderful people. I feel honoured.”
